Novel protest
:
Farmers wade through waterlogged paddy fields in a
protest called ‘Karshaka Sakshyam’ at Muriyad, near
Thrissur, on Sunday. The farmers have been agitating
for the past six months demanding steps to make 7,000
acres of kole lands in Muriyad cultivable. They allege
that illegal sand and clay-mining in the area has
destroyed the paddy fields.
